Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk is a peer support walking group for young people in Maroondah aged 15-25 years old. This group is a supportive and welcoming space for all young people with lived experience of mental health related challenges or looking to make connections within the community. The group provides a safe space, open for all kinds of conversation while being supported by a Youth Worker, a Mental Health Worker (Counsellor/Provisional Psychologist) and their therapy dog! Come down and have casual conversations with other young people while walking and immersing yourself in nature.

The group is run fortnightly on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm. Walk and Talk meets outside of EV’s Youth Centre and walks along the Tarralla Creek Trail.

You will get the chance to speak with Youth Workers and other people within the mental health field while creating new relationships within your local community.

Who is this program for?

Someone who is aged between 15-25
Someone with a connection to Maroondah (work, live, study or play)
Someone seeking some extra support within their local community
Someone looking to make new connections in a safe and supportive space

Time & location:

The walk will begin from EV’s Youth Centre (212 Mt Dandenong Road, Croydon, 3136) at 4:30pm. We will then walk 4km of the Tarralla Creek Trail (Croydon, 3136) before meeting back at EV’s Youth Centre at 5:30pm.
The walks will be fortnightly on Wednesdays starting from the 20^th of April 2022

Expectations:

Have a conversation with a Youth Worker prior to the walk to ensure that this program is the best fit for you
Remain respectful to others during the walk
Let us know if you need some extra support during the walk
