Maroondah TAC L2P Program

Our TAC L2P program assists young people aged 16-21 to get the 120 hours of driving practice needed to get their licence by matching them with a volunteer supervising driver.

The program is FREE for both young people and volunteer mentors (the car and all fuel is provided).

Eligible learner drivers will also receive up to 7 professional driving lessons throughout the program, to evaluate their progress at the different stages of learning to drive.

Learner Drivers

The Maroondah TAC L2P Program is currently at capacity, however we are still accepting applications from young learner drivers who want to take part in the program in 2020.

Learner drivers who are interested need to apply and attend an interview before being accepted into the program.

Eligibility criteria apply - applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 16 - 21 years of age
  • Live, work or study within the City of Maroondah
  • Hold a current Victorian Learners Permit
  • Make a commitment to the program for at least a 12 month period
  • Have no access to a vehicle, and/or no access to a supervising driver, and/or limited financial means

To register your interest in the program, please complete the Application Form here.

The TAC L2P program is a popular one, so after registering your interest you will have to wait a few months to get started. We will do our best to help you as soon as possible though!

Volunteer mentors (supervising drivers)

Do you want to help a young person get their licence?

To run this program we rely on volunteers to fill the role of driving mentor to the young people in the program. We provide training and support to all supervising drivers, and driving sessions will be held in the Maroondah TAC L2P vehicle.

To be eligible as a mentor, you need to be over 21 years of age, hold a full driver’s licence and be willing to commit to at least one hour a week over a 12 month period.

Volunteer mentors need to register their interest in the program, attend an interview, complete the mandatory checks and a one day training course designed by the Department of Transport before they will be matched with a young person.

For more information and to register, please visit the Careers @ Maroondah page on the Maroondah City Council website.
