Coordinator - Youth and Children's Services

Adam sits at the head of the Youth Services table and having lived the journey as a Youth Worker for almost two decades now, it’s safe to say he knows his stuff. 

Adam is in his element in the great outdoors and is always seeking new adventures and experiences.

He takes his barbecue shapes quite seriously and contributed to the movement to bring back the original recipe shapes. 

Having long outgrown his rock star days, Adam now spends his time shaping the lives of his 3 little humans with countless hours of Lego construction, catching bugs and creating UFO’s out of paper plates.

He is a life-long learner and is always seeking innovative ways to get the most out of life.

Alysha (she/her)

TAC L2P Coordinator 

Alysha is a high energy, proactive go-getter whose organisation skills are on point.

One of her great loves is the art of stories and she has read thousands of them!

Alysha is also very connected to animals, and this along with her passion for the great outdoors has ledto her ambition for owning her own hobby farm in the future.

She has adventured through Asia and is excited to tackle Europe next, where she will surely pick up a number of goodies to add to her many collections!

Alysha brings a vibrant flare to the Youth Services team and keeps us all excited and ready for whatever is next.

Amy (she/her)

Community and Online Engagement Officer

Amy is a social justice and inclusion warrior who will jump in head first for an opportunity to support others.

She is a mother to two righteous little people and together they spend their time making up songs and dances to entertain Alfie, the large tropical fish!

Amy speaks English and Portuguese and although she is a little rusty on the latter, she loves the richness that comes with bi-lingual communication.

She is an avid treasure hunter and spends her spare time trawling through op shops, vintage markets and auctions for vintage décor.

Amy gets her jolts of joy from being outside in the garden, adventuring on bush walks or indulging in the atmosphere of live music.

Annette (she/her)

Youth Development Worker

Annette is a super cool nerd and loves everything Harry Potter, Buffy and the Walking Dead.

She has been in the Youth Work field since she was a young person herself and enjoys working with all the amazing young people in our community.

She is a mum of two (1 human, 1 canine) and when she gets a moment to herself she dabbles in knitting, blogging and doing her bit to make the world more green and sustainable.

You’ll win Annette over with chocolate and cheese but you’ll lose points by eating bananas or making her go out in the cold!

She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and will go above and beyond to make great things happen!

Ash (she/her)

Youth Activities Worker

Ash is an optimistic, inquisitive, go-getter. She aims to approach life with a ‘yes’ mentality and a big smile on her face.

Learning through conversation is one of her passions. She enjoys having creative and inquisitive discussions, and is eager to listen and offer compassion if you’re having a tough day. She is inspired by different cultures and loves meeting people from all walks of life.

Ash is also a big believer in aligning her actions with her values. This means she’s always thinking about the environment, animals and people before she makes a decision. Next time you see her ask her where her clothes come from – she’ll always be wearing something that’s secondhand or ethically made.

When she isn’t chatting or working, she loves a good dance in the kitchen, hanging out with her big, fluffy, polar bear of a dog, and painting flowers with her water colour paints.

Elyse (she/her)

Youth Activities Worker

Elyse is a spontaneous adventurer who likes to seize the day whenever the opportunity arises

She enjoys finding opportunities to work together as a team, whether it be on the footy field or working on a project she's there!

Elyse loves to travel and reaching the top of Queensland at Cape York is way up there on her bucket list.

You'll find Elyse with a relaxed vibe and she's super easy to talk to.

She's a passionate advocate for the wellbeing of young people and is keen to get on the ground and amplify young people's voices.

Heather (she/her)

Youth and Children’s Services Planning and Strategy Advisor

Heather is like the cogs that make the clock tick in Youth Services. She’s the one that makes surewe are headed in the right direction. 

Heather is fond of collecting bits and pieces (usually from Kmart) that may be useful one day. In Heather’s eyes “you’ll never know when you might need some novelty post-it notes!”.

She is a self-described cat lover and as well as rescuing the precious Errol, she has cared for multiple foster cats over the years. She has recently expanded her pet ownership to include her adorable Cocker Spaniel Maggie, who can often be seen modelling dog coats. 

Heather's greatest gift is giving to others and she is known for putting other people’s needs before her own – after she has had coffee of course!

She is one of the longest standing members of the team and spreads her knowledge and understanding with passion.

Marcus (he/him)

Youth Development Worker

Marcus is an enthusiastic 'yes man' who puts 110% into everything he does.

As a self-confessed geek he enjoys showing off his love of Star Wars through his range of funky socks.

Marcus spends his spare time unleashing his creative side through photography and painting as well as dabbling in model and sculpting kits.

Hardcore music is his preference and he will often take to the drums himself for a bit of fun.

Marcus is a bundle of zest ready to take on the world.

Mekayla (she/her)

Youth Development Worker

Mekayla loves everything leopard print, bright red and Pushing Daisies (It was cancelled too soon!)

She started her further education in podiatry but quickly learnt that feet fixing was not her calling! She is very happy to have found her place in youth work.

The loves of her life are her three dogs (Miss Chilli, Bruno and Allegra) and when she’s not covered in fur she loves roller-skating and a Melbourne brunch (poached eggs are a must!)

Mekayla loves learning about education pathways and iced oat milk lattes but is significantly less passionate about early wake ups and any shoes that aren’t sneakers. 

Mekayla is a ‘yes-woman’ who is down to give anything a try!

Mel (they/she)

Maroondah Positive Education Network Project Officer

Mel is an energetic go-getter whose drive and determination fuels the strength of the Youth Services team.

They are a keen foodie and has been known to exhibit ‘hangry’ behaviours if they are without food for too long. Broccoli, oranges or nuts will usually do the trick!

Mel spends their weekends completing triathlons, duathlons and marathons – you name it, they've done it!

Their life is full of adventure and she recounts her stories with the perfect balance of informative comedy.

They will never back down from a challenge and their competitive nature makes them a great ally to have on your side.

Rachelle (she/her)

Youth Programs and Services Coordinator

Rachelle is a donut loving, netball playing barrel of laughs who brings a bucket load of passion to the Youth Services team.  

If you don’t find her on the netball court she’ll be somewhere nearby, probably devouring a good book or murder mystery podcast. 

Rachelle is all about making change for the better, and works her magic both through supporting young people individually and thinking creatively about new ways for the team to do things. 

Her charismatic nature and love of life make her everyone’s mate, and she’s willing to give everything a go (just not foods with weird textures).

Rachelle is Youth Services equality champion, and when it comes to defending the rights of young people, she won’t back down from a fight.

Sarah (she/her)

School Focused Youth Service Coordinator  

Sarah provides Youth Services with the perfect balance of fun and friendly mixed with a fierce appetite for fairness and opportunity. 

Sarah is an advocate for all things sustainable and works hard to always better herself and the world she lives in.  

A perfect weekend for Sarah would involve hanging out with Moos (her anti-social cat), reading Harry Potter to her beautiful daughter, and watching documentaries on Netflix. 

She indulges her inner child by taking the time to appreciate Lego, dinosaurs and M&M Yogos. 

Sarah’s modesty and willingness to give everything her all has led to her being an inspirational role model within the team.

Shannon (they/them)

Youth Worker

Shannon is a self-described passionate weirdo, their favourite superhero is Buffy the Vampire Slayer (it counts!) and they once walked from Melbourne to Canberra for climate justice (without getting blisters!).

Shannon is always hungry for new experiences (Scuba! Solo travel around India! Volcanic fields in Iceland! Half-marathons!) and is excited by new ideas - especially those that might seem mad to others.

Shannon loves to shake up the status quo and with a long history in making theatre and live art, they use their creativity and advocacy superpowers to help young people make new things possible!

Their friends say they are thoughtful, kind and sensitive (some might say introverted…), and always available to chat about the tough stuff.
